The Premier's Reading Challenge is an annual statewide initiative for state and non-state schools and home-educated students from Prep to Year 9, as well as children (aged up to 5 years) enrolled in an early childhood centre.
Information about the Premier's Reading Challenge is available in the links below.
Encouraging your students to read as often as possible - not only to learn but also for enjoyment - is a critical element of improving reading for all students.
The Premier's Reading Challenge booklists include a variety of topics, genres, authors and fiction and non-fiction. Students are encouraged to select a range of books suited to their interests and reading level.
While there is no compulsory reading list for the challenge, a booklist has been developed to help students, teachers, parents and guardians select appropriate reading material.
The booklists have been divided into year level groups. Students are welcome to read books from previous years' booklists and from lists for higher year levels.
Some of the books are available to Queensland State Schools as an eBook. Contact eResource Services for information on
how to access eBooks and eJournals.
