The South Brisbane Men’s Shed established on the Autism Hub and Reading Centre site was officially opened by the Honourable Jackie Trad MP in April. The Shed is an Australian first to have a special interest group for fathers of young people with autism. The shed provides a safe place for fathers of children with autism to come and talk with other fathers and grandfathers with similar experiences.
Since opening in April the shed membership has grown steadily and its program includes regular opening hours each Monday and Tuesday with activities including gardening, walking, information sessions and music. The special interest groups for fathers of young people with autism known as FACT has commenced its Friday evenings get together centred on sport.
If you are a father of a young person with autism and are interested in joining the activities of the shed please contact the shed on 0401 277 810 or
